The British University Vietnam (BUV) on Sunday awarded numerous prestigious scholarships to talented students from various provinces across the country.

The event highlights outstanding students who have demonstrated courage and determination in pursuing their dreams.

In 2024, the British University Vietnam (BUV) announced the awarding of scholarships to talented youths from various provinces across the country, with a total scholarship fund of up to VNĐ87 billion. These scholarships include the Founder's Scholarship, Lion's Heart Scholarship, British Ambassador Scholarship, Vice Chancellor Scholarship, Dean Scholarship, Discipline Scholarship and Talent Scholarships.

Student scholars are talented individuals who have undergone a competitive selection process and meet the criteria based on academic achievements, notable community service experience, good moral character, leadership potential, continuous learning for creativity and development, and a desire to contribute to society. The Lion's Heart Scholarship is one of BUV's special programmes aimed at supporting talented young individuals with determination facing physical challenges or difficult family circumstances to continue their educational journey and strive for future goals.

The scholarship programme is closely aligned with BUV's core mission of nurturing outstanding graduates who are first and foremost good human beings with ethics of kindness and caring. Every generation of BUV students who has the potential to create opportunities for themselves as well as for the people of Việt Nam in the future will be at the forefront of the 4.0 era. BUV aims to help multiple generations of students access high-quality education programs from the UK in an international-standard learning environment.

Prof. Dr. Raymond Gordon, Vice Chancellor of the British University Vietnam, said: “BUV is always committed to fulfilling our mission and dedication to the education system in Việt Nam, emphasising our motto - Here for the future of Việt Nam. BUV ensures that today's scholarship winners will become outstanding ambassadors and ignite inspiration for the next generations of students.”

In addition, BUV will organise another scholarship award ceremony in May for hundreds of outstanding winners from partner high schools.

Alongside its commitment to social responsibility and support for young talented generations, BUV continuously enhances the quality of teaching, learning conditions and develops soft skills for students. In 2023, BUV officially became the first and only university in Việt Nam and the Southeast Asia region, one of the just 22 universities outside the UK to achieve QAA accreditation as an independent education institution. QAA is an independent quality assurance agency for higher education, responsible for assuring standards and enhancing the quality of universities in the UK and UK higher education providers worldwide. Currently, BUV is also the first and only university in Việt Nam to be awarded the comprehensive QS Stars 5-star standard based on 8 criteria, ranging from teaching quality and facilities to employment opportunities for students. — VNS
