Boehringer Ingelheim, a global leader in animal health, has launched its new parasite treatment, NexGard Combo, for cats in Việt Nam with 300 customers.
With nearly 20 years of expertise in preventing parasites such as fleas, ticks, Lyme disease, and more in dogs, NexGard now adds a feline-specific product to the NexGard family.
The new treatment is designed to safeguard cats from a wider range of parasites than many existing products, covering both external parasites and internal parasites such as fleas, ticks, ear mites, hookworms, roundworms, vesical worms, lungworms, as well as tapeworm infections that affect their health and quality of life.
Parasite infections are common in cats and prevalent across Asia. According to an epidemiological study of over 1,000 cats in eastern and Southeast Asia, 31 per cent of pet cats suffer from external parasites such as fleas, ticks and mites, and 14 per cent harbor deadly internal parasites such as hookworm, heartworm and roundworm.
NexGard Combo is a researched product specifically designed for feline use, providing comprehensive prevention and treatment against both ecto- and endoparasites, including tapeworms, according to Assoc. Prof. Bùi Khánh Linh, head of Vet Parasitology Department under the Vietnam National University of Agriculture.
“Notably, this product safeguards cats from heartworm disease and effectively prevents Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD),” she said.
Torsten Hardge, head of Animal Health at Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam, said the company has consistently been at the forefront of research and development in the parasiticide space.
The NexGard family of products, trusted by both pet owners and veterinarians, leads in pet parasiticide sales globally and in Việt Nam.
In Asia, where over 26 per cent of pet owners have cats, the company is expanding its feline parasite prevention line-up, including Broadline and FRONTLINE PLUS Cat, and now NexGard Combo.
