BCG Energy Joint Stock Company, a subsidiary of Bamboo Capital Group, and the Hepza Businesses Association (HBA) on Monday signed a deal to develop rooftop solar power system at factories in industrial parks, export processing zones and hi-tech parks in HCM City.

In 2020-24 BCG Energy will install at least 300MWp of rooftop solar capacity at factories in IPs, EPZs and high-tech parks in HCM City as well as in neighbouring provinces.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Pham Minh Tuan, CEO of BCG Energy, said this co-operation has great significance since the company plans to grow in the field of renewable energy, especially rooftop solar.

Businesses signing deals to put up rooftop solar will get benefits like having their factory roof reinforced and getting certificates for sustainable development and environmental protection that are extremely beneficial to their production and trading activities, besides reducing the temperature under the roof by 4-5 degrees Celsius, he added.

Nguyen Van Be, HBA chairman, said: “EPZs, IPs and high-tech parks are in need of technological innovation, especially the application of 4.0 technologies in production and management to improve product quality. The use of green energy in production is a driving force for development and innovation.”

HBA, also known as the HCM City Association for Industrial Park Businesses, aims to have a total capacity of 1,000MWp of rooftop solar power installed to help reduce CO2 emissions by around 23 million tonnes by 2024, he added.

BCG Energy has installed 82MWp of rooftop solar power at IPs and EPZs in Long An, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Binh Phuoc.

In addition, it also put into operation the BCG - CME Long An 1 and 2 solar plants with a total capacity of 140MW in Long An Province last year.

With its advantages like tying up with the world’s leading consulting, finance, construction and solution units such as Hanwha Energy of South Korea and Japan Asia Investment, BCG Energy plans to develop 500MWp of rooftop solar in 2020-24, and 1.5GW to 2GW solar power projects and liquefied natural gas projects by 2021 in Long An Province. — VNS
