Amazon's third-party sellers, of which most are small and medium-sized businesses, surpassed US$3.5 billion in sales on its two-day Prime Day event, a nearly 60 per cent year-on-year increase.
The Prime Day event across 19 additional countries delivered big sales for small businesses and big savings for Prime members.
“We are thrilled that Prime Day was a record-breaking event for small and medium businesses worldwide, with sales surpassing $3.5 billion,” said Cindy Tai, Head of Amazon Global Selling APAC.
“We look forward to providing more opportunities for our selling partners to grow and for customers to save throughout the holiday season.”
Vietnamese sellers also actively participated and contributed many “Made in Vietnam" products with attractive promotions during Amazon's biggest shopping event.
“We feel very proud and fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Amazon. Amazon is an excellent and leading marketplace with great support for sellers and customers. Amazon's Prime Day is a great opportunity for us to test market demand for our products so we can better prepare for other exciting campaigns like Black Friday or the Christmas season in December. The thing that makes us believe most when selling on Amazon is that Amazon has extremely good control over the problem of counterfeit goods, thereby helping our products with quality, class and prestige to be trusted by Americans,” Tran Van Tuoi, CEO of Sea Grapes Co.
Amazon is on track to invest $18 billion this year to help small and medium-sized businesses succeed in its store, and designed this Prime Day to support small businesses even more, including funding a promotion that helped drive over $900 million in sales for small businesses in the two weeks leading up to Prime Day.
The company held its biggest small business promotion ever in the lead-up to Prime Day, and had hundreds of thousands of deals from both small and medium-sized businesses available globally over the two-day event. — VNS
