HA NOI (Biz Hub) — AkzoNobel plans to invest further in its performance coatings business in Viet Nam, where it is the largest paints and coatings company with four manufacturing locations that employ 800 workers.
Accordingly, the company would double capacity at its powder coatings facility in the southern province of Dong Nai.
The new production line in Dong Nai would become operational in November and would be supported by a 20 per cent increase in workforce, the company said, adding that besides serving the local market, the expanded plant would serve customers across Southeast Asia, India, Australia and New Zealand.
"Viet Nam has proven to be a strategic market for AkzoNobel in Southeast Asia and we are strongly committed to expanding our position," Alan Alex, business manager for AkzoNobel's powder coatings business in South Asia, said.
"With focused investment, we aim to sustain our high double-digit growth in the domestic market in Viet Nam, as well as South Asia overall," he said.
Commenting on the investment, Conrad Keijzer, AkzoNobel's executive committee member responsible for performance coatings, said, "Viet Nam is strongly emerging as a manufacturing base in Asia, which continues to be an attractive growth market. These investments ensure that we are well positioned to meet the customer demand going forward."— VNS
