Airbus, a global leader in aerospace, recognises the robust growth of Việt Nam's aviation industry and is committed to partnering with the country to advance sustainability and innovation in this sector.
The company delivered this statement as it participated in the Aviation Industry Vietnam Forum Exhibition held last week in HCM City and the two-day Innovation Horizon 5.0 Forum held this week in Hà Nội.
During these events, Airbus' Chief Representative for Việt Nam Hoàng Tri Mai collaborated with prominent aerospace, energy, and mobility organisations to engage in in-depth discussions on the various challenges and opportunities facing the aerospace industry.
Mai said Airbus' latest market forecast for the region, which predicted a need for 17,580 new aircraft (passenger and freighter) over the next two decades, representing 44.5 per cent of global demand for around 39,490 new aircraft deliveries by 2041.
Over 75 per cent of deliveries would drive growth (compared to the global average of 60 per cent), with 25 per cent for replacements (compared to the global average of 40 per cent) - a key factor in decarbonisation efforts.
With a strong year-on-year increase in passenger and cargo traffic, Việt Nam was emerging as a significant aviation market, mirroring the broader regional trend. The sector's contribution to the country's GDP of 5.2 per cent or US$12.5 billion, provided essential support for economic growth, Mai said.
She added that sustainability would be a central theme in Việt Nam's aviation growth story, and Airbus stood ready to help the nation meet its sustainability commitments. Airbus' innovations and technologies, including the development of new generation aircraft, satellite applications, and environmental initiatives, align seamlessly with the country's goals.
In addition, Airbus was committed to nurturing innovation in Việt Nam's aviation sector. By fostering collaboration with local partners, Airbus aimed to promote research and development activities that drive technological advancements and create opportunities for Việt Nam to lead in aviation innovation within the Asia-Pacific region.
“At Airbus, we are dedicated pioneers, charting the course for a sustainable aerospace future that unites the world in safety and innovation. From the steady progress of incremental advancements to the game-changing power of disruptive innovation, our commitment is unwavering," Pierre Andrieu, Innovation for Customers Director at Airbus - Commercial and International.
"We hope to partner with Việt Nam-based organisations on pivotal projects and technologies that can propel us towards our vision of the future," he said. — VNS
