The joint venture between the Saigon Union of Trading Co-operatives and Singapore’s NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited on May 10 opened its third Cheers convenience store in the country in HCM City.

The 24-hour store on Dinh Tien Hoang Street in District 1 comes after others in District 10 and District 4.

The stores sell household goods, ready-to-eat products such as combo rice and noodle sets, sandwiches, sushi, salads and fresh fruits, desserts, beverages, and confectionery, including imported products.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Seah Kian Peng, CEO of NTUC FairPrice, said: “Similar to the stores in Singapore, the Cheers stores here provide 24-hour shopping convenience and value-added services such as bill payment, SIM card top-ups and insurance renewal.”

Nguyen Anh Duc, deputy CEO of Saigon Co.op, said the stores meet the needs of a wide range of customers, especially people with active and busy lifestyles.

Cheers also target millennials.

So it would always find new and innovative products and services to cater to the diverse needs, Duc said.

To mark the opening occasion, Cheers Dinh Tien Hoang is offering discounts of up to 50 per cent on a number of products and gifts like glassware and Cheers gift bags.

The popular Co.opmart loyalty programme is also applicable at Cheers.

Cheers, founded in 1998, has since grown to number 140 stores in Singapore.

“We are all certainly looking forward to adding more Cheers stores in various part of Viet Nam to serve the changing lifestyle needs of customers here,” Seah said.
