VINH PHUC (Biz Hub) — Twenty-five amateur golfers from the north were selected to participate in the TPBank World Amateur Golfers Championship final round, to be held in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on October 24.

At the upcoming tournament, golfers will compete with those from the south. The final five winners will then join in the World Finals, to be held from November 28 to December 5, 2015 in Belek Antalya, Turkey.

Addressing the ceremony in Vinh Phuc Province on September 3, deputy CEO of TienPhong Commercial Joint Stock Bank Bui Thi Thanh Huong praised the efforts all golf players have made during the qualifying round.

Huong expressed her hope that the championship would contribute to gradually improving amateur golfing standards in Viet Nam to reach world-class levels.

Earlier, TP Bank was selected to become the exclusive organizer of the "World Amateur Golfers Championship" (WAGC) in Viet Nam for 2015-17.

The agreement, signed by the bank and the World Golfers Championship Challenge, enables TPBank to select a Vietnamese team to compete with teams from more than 40 countries for the "World Amateur Golfers Championship", one of the world's largest and most prestigious amateur golf tournaments.

All expenses incurred by the Vietnamese team will be covered by TPBank.

WAGC has become one of the world‘s premier amateur events.

The tournament has been organized in many countries, such as the USA, Dominican Republic, Thailand, Turkey, Malaysia, Spain and South Africa, creating many valuable opportunities for amateur golfers to establish new friendships, experience sports and seek out new business opportunities.

Viet Nam began participating in the World Amateur Golf Championship in 2011 with the support of Heineken beer, in which previous events were called the "Heineken World Golfers Championship". — VNS
