HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Construction work will begin on the Coc Hai 1 wind power plant in southern Ninh Thuan province this June, with investment capital of nearly VND1.2 trillion (US$57.1 million).
Work on the project, divided into two phases, will be contributed by Saigon Industry Corporation, the Electricity of Viet Nam's Power Generation Corporation 2 and HCM City Electric Power Trading Investment Corporation.
The plant will use coaxial dual layer turbine technology, which has the advantage of low cost and high output (2.5 times higher than the wind turbine technology that is currently being used).
The first phase will have a total investment of VND190 billion ($9 million). It will include three testing power generators, each designed to produce 1MW per hour. These testing power generators are planned to be completed by the end of 2014 and operational by 2015. — VNS
