Technology, energy and pharmaceuticals were among the sectors that boosted the stock market in the morning session.
Large-cap firms in those sectors such as FPT Corp (FPT), CMC Corp (CMG), PetroVietnam Gas (GAS), PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD) and Domesco Medical Import-Export JSC (DMC) saw shares rise.

The VN-Index also received some support from large-cap stocks such as Vietcombank (VCB), insurer Bao Viet (BVH), brewer Sabeco (SAB) and Vingroup (VIC).
