The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, however, ended flat at 97.37 points.
Around 134.6 million shares were traded on Monday morning, worth VND2.4 trillion (US$107 million).
The market was driven up by FLC Faros Construction (ROS) after two poor sessions, as well as the recovery of bank stocks.
ROS surged 6.9 per cent after having dipped 13.4 per cent in the previous two days, after MVIS Vietnam, under the VanEck Vectors Vietnam ETF, on Saturday added ROS into the basket of its V.N.M ETF with a weight of 6.5 per cent, making it the fourth largest share in the fund’s portfolio.
The sharp rise of ROS shares had a positive impact on shares of property developer FLC Group (FLC), which jumped 5.6 per cent.
Shares of listed banks recovered after a week of slump, with four of the nine bank stocks rising. Gainers included Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), BIDV (BID), Vietinbank (CTG) and Vietcombank (VCB).
