VN-Index goes flat as blue chips remain unchanged

HA NOI – The VN-Index failed to surpass the psychological level of 600 points this morning, despite a positive opening.

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index ended at 596.67 points, almost unchanged over yesterday's close.

Most of the blue chips went flat, keeping the VN30, which tracks the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity, at 626.92 points, down 0.06 per cent from Tuesday.

The overall market condition was positive, with the gainers outnumbering the losers by 110 to 82, and 113 others remaining unchanged.

Liquidity improved slightly, with the exchange of more than 73 million shares worth nearly VND1.2 trillion (US$56.1 million).

Without any supporting information, HAI Agrochem Co (HAI) surprised the market by claiming the ‘most active stock' label from FLC Group (FLC), with 8.2 million of its shares being traded. But the stock fell 4.32 per cent to end at VND15,500 ($0.72) per share.

In contrast, the HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange added another 0.15 per cent to finish the morning session at 86.37 points, though the losers outnumbered the gainers by 80 to 69. Other codes were also flat.

The market's trading volume was 32.5 million shares, worth VND409 billion ($19.1 million).

KLF Joint Venture Global Investment Co (KLF) was again the most heavily traded stock here, with the trading of more than six million of its shares, rising 0.93 per cent in value to stand at VND10,800 per share.
