Tour operator Vinpearl Travel RU has opened in Russia, aiming to provide Russian people with high-end tour packages to Viet Nam's popular tourism destinations of Nha Trang and Phu Quoc.

During the opening ceremony in Moscow on Tuesday, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh praised the opening of Vinpearl Travel RU in Russia, saying that its presence would help boost tourism and people-to-people exchanges, and open up more co-operation opportunities between the two countries.

Viet Nam had become a popular destination among Russians in recent years and the number of Russian holiday-makers to the country had been increasing. That had opened up new co-operation opportunities among airlines, tour agencies and resort developers, Manh said.

In 2019 alone, Viet Nam welcomed nearly 650,000 Russian tourists.

Ekaterinna Golubieva, executive director of Vinpearl Travel RU, said the company had a big opportunity to develop tourism in Viet Nam by increasing the number of Russian arrivals to the country through high-end tourism products.

Vinpearl Travel RU, belonging to Vinpearl JSC under private conglomerate Vingroup, will co-operate with Vietnam Airlines to conduct over 160 flights connecting the Russian cities of Moscow, Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, and Ekaterinburg with Nha Trang and Phu Quoc in 2020.

The first route between Moscow and Nha Trang will be put into operation on March 12 with two flights per week.

The presence of Vinpearl Travel RU in Russia is part of Vinpearl JSC's strategy to expand its market overseas in 2020.

Beside Russia, the company also plans to open offices in other markets such as Australia, Japan, South Korea and China. — VNS
