BAC NINH (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam's largest soybean firm doubled its production capacity with a VND1.28 trillion (US$56 million) expansion of its plant in Bac Ninh province, the company said yesterday.
The Bac Ninh plant, located about 30km north-east of Ha Noi, can now process about 180 million litres of soybean milk a year, up from a previous 90 million.
Vinasoy, a unit of Quang Ngai Sugar Co., said it plans to begin building its third overall plant, and second in central Quang Ngai province, in December, company general director Vo Thanh Dang said.
Vinasoy says it supplies about 83 percent of Vietnam's soybean milk demand and is the world's fifth largest soybean company.
Dang also said the company was starting a fund to aid poor students from primary to high school, with an initial contribution of VND5 billion (US$222,000). — VNS
