HCM CITY (Biz Hub) – The nation's leading dairy firm, Vinamilk, has launched its new Twin Cows fresh milk brand in the local market.

The milk, produced in New Zealand, is being sold under the company's international co-operation programme that seeks to expanding supply sources to meet local milk demand.

While milk consumption by Vietnamese people has increased sharply over the last several years, domestic production of raw milk meets just 30 per cent of the demand.

In 2010, Vinamilk invested in the Miraka milk processing factory in New Zealand.

This investment has helped Vinamilk to source high quality milk from New Zealand and be proactive in stabilising its raw material supply at a time when world milk prices have been fluctuating strongly.

The new product has a competitive price of VND35,000 (US$1.7) per one litre carton (without sugar).

The company expects the product to do well since a significant local consumer segment tends to favour imported milk, especially from Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Germany and France, and are willing to pay higher prices for it. — VNS
