Vin Group, Đà Nẵng agree ‘green’ development plan


A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on ‘green’ transformation and sustainable development has been inked by the central city’s people’s committee and Vin Group, promising a potential utility of electric vehicle in public traffic service in 2025-30.

ĐÀ NẴNG – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on ‘green’ transformation and sustainable development has been inked by the central city’s people’s committee and Vin Group, offering fuller use of electric vehicles across public traffic service from 2025-30.

The two partners agreed to open more electric bus routes in the inner city and start a shuttle with a battery-powered bus between Huế and Đà Nẵng.

Đà Nẵng and Vin Group will promote carbon credit projects by developing more electric cars, bus, charger stations on the way to creating a  ‘green’ and 'smart' urban area.

Chairman of the city’s people’s committee, Lê Trung Chinh said the MoU is the next positive step in the city’s green transformation and sustainable plan.

He said the city has a clear vision for Đà Nẵng as a regional ‘smart’ and ‘green’ area, as an international finance and semiconductor & AI centre, a free trade zone and a global destination.

The property developer, Vin Group committed a prolonged partnership with the city in key strategic projects in economy, environment and traffic sectors.

Vice chairman of Vin Group, Lê Thị Thu Thuỷ said 2,800 VinFast electric cars are being used in the city, with customers accessing 55 charging stations.

She said the group will partner up with Đà Nẵng on research into becoming a free trade zone and international finance centre.

The city-based Tiên Sa Taxi firm has used VinFast electric cars for public travel service in the city and Đồng Hới City in Quảng Bình Province.

A source from the city revealed that the Làng Vân (or Vân Village) project, an integrated luxury entertainment, urban and resort complex at the foot of the Hải Vân Pass, would start breaking ground in March.

It will be one of the largest entertainment and resort projects in the central city, covering a site of 512.2ha, with an investment of VNĐ43.92 trillion (US$1.76 billion).

Earlier, Vin Group also inked a MoU on green transformation and sustainable development with Huế City People's Committee.
