VietJetAir crew suspended for landing at wrong airport

The flight co-odinator and crew members of VietJetAir flight VJ8575 were temporarily suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) on Saturday after landing at the wrong airport.

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The flight co-odinator and crew members of VietJetAir flight VJ8575 were temporarily suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) on Saturday after landing at the wrong airport.

The flight, with nearly 200 passengers from Ha Noi, had landed at Cam Ranh Airport in Nha Trang Province, 140 km away from its intended destination of Lien Khuong Airport, in the Central Highlands of Da Lat Province on Thursday.

The CAAV said that VietJetAir had taken passengers to the wrong aircraft. The flight co-ordinator at the Noi Bai Airport and all crew members of VietJetAir, including pilots and stewardess, had not followed due procedures, the CAAV said.

An additional flight then had to be arranged to take the passengers from Nha Trang to Da Lat.

The CAAV is conducting further investigation, as not following required procedures could expose flights to high risks, and wrongdoers will receive due punishment

VietJetAir CEO Luu Duc Khanh yesterday apologised to passengers for the incident and said the company had been striving to ensure safety on its flights. — VNS
