Vietjet’s air transport revenue in the second quarter reached VND8.58 trillion (US$376 million), up 53 per cent on-year, while its pre-tax profit from air transport also experienced a significant increase of 44 per cent to VND950 billion.
In Q2, the airline carried over 5.8 million passengers, an on-year increase of 28 per cent, of which domestic passenger numbers rose 12.7 per cent to 4.2 million, and international passengers reached 1.6 million, a massive increase of 96 per cent over the same period in 2017.
According to the report, accumulated air transport revenue in the first six months topped VND16.47 trillion, surging 53 on-year. Air transport profit stood at VND1.68 trillion, an increase of 53.4 per cent over the same period in 2017 and equivalent to 56.2 per cent of the annual target.
Thanks to this strong growth, the airline’s ancillary revenue recorded a 50 per cent on-year increase to VND3.8 trillion.
From January to June, Vietjet continued to lead the domestic passenger sector with 59,944 flights, up nearly 22 per cent. Technical reliability was 99.66 per cent, with safety performance and ground operation indicators among the top in the region. The on-time performance stood at 83 per cent.
Vietjet’s total revenue in H1 stood at VND21.2 trillion, a yearly increase of 29 per cent, while its post-tax profit rose by 26 per cent on-year to VND2.37 trillion. — VNS
