Vietjet, Lufthansa Technik AG sign technical service agreement

BERLIN (Biz Hub) — Vietjet and Lufthansa Technik AG, a member of Lufthansa AG, signed a technical service agreement for Vietjet's current A320-family aircraft engines on November 25.

The signing of the landmark agreement was witnessed by Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Germany's foreign minister, and Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, who was on a state visit to Germany to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Germany and Viet Nam.

Under the agreement, Lufthansa Technik AG will provide Vietjet with top-of-the-range solutions in technology, maintenance service and technical maintenance, as well as consultation on key technical projects, technical training for staff and other consulting services. The Vietnamese airline will support Lufthansa Technik AG in accessing large markets in the Asia-Pacific region, one of the areas with the maximum potential in the field of aviation.

The agreement will also pave the way for both groups to jointly construct a platform to develop facilities and technical expertise that achieve top domestic and international standards.

"We are delighted to accompany Vietjet in technical services and engine maintenance, which are expected to lay a solid foundation for the spectacular and long-term development of Vietjet. Lufthansa Technik AG is committed to providing its leading technical management services to Vietjet, helping improve flight quality and safety for its passengers," Bernhard Krüger – Sprengel, senior vice–president, engines of Lufthansa Technik AG, said.

"We are also committed to supporting Vietjet in new technology training for safety and security assurance, as well as in researching opportunities for providing aircraft spare parts locally," he said.

In her speech at the signing ceremony, Vietjet chairwoman Nguyen Thanh Ha appreciated the support from such an experienced company in Germany as Lufthansa Technik AG, and said it would help Vietjet in meeting the operation and rigorous maintenance requirements of the fleet, ensuring all new flights of Vietjet would operate at the highest levels of safety and maintenance.
