HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Private carrier VietJet has received a certificate of merit for its role in the University Entrance Exam Supporter 2014 programme.
The programme is an initiative of the HCM City Youth Union to assist the large number of students arriving in Viet Nam's largest city to sit entrance exams for third-level institutions.
VietJet pitched in by offering candidates 10,000 caps, 10,000 t-shirts and many other gifts worth VND1 billion. VietJet's top management and staff also appeared at stations and schools to encourage volunteers to assist candidates to the best of their ability.
"VietJet is extremely proud to assist the University Entrance Exam Supporter programme, which is a meaningful initiative for the community. Students are the future of this amazing country and we are delighted to be of assistance to them," said VietJet business development manager Desmond Lin.
VietJet has participated in many Corporate Social Responsibility programmes aimed at providing assistance to Vietnamese students.
Earlier this year, the airline teamed up with PepsiCo to help fly students home for the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday by providing free air tickets, so that they could enjoy the holiday with their families. As a bonus, the students were amongst the first passengers in the country to fly on an A320 jet with Sharklet wingtips, a revolutionary fuel-saving design created by Airbus. VietJet and PepsiCo are eager to join forces for a similar initiative during Tet next year. — VNS
