HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Viet Nam, or Vietcombank, suspended the service that allows money transfers to foreign cardholders via its ATMs on November 12.

According to the announcement on Vietcombank's website, the bank will cease ATM transactions between Vietcombank accounts in which the recipients are foreigners. It will also not accept any transaction from other banks in which the recipient is a foreigner with a Vietcombank account.

"This suspension of service is temporary," a source from Vietcombank told Viet Nam News.

However, foreigners can still use their cards to withdraw money transferred via the bank office or the Internet, as long as it is not made via an ATM.

Vietcombank said customer's profiles cannot be checked through these transactions, and so the bank has had to suspend these services to follow the regulations of the central bank. —VNS
