HA NOI – Over many years, Viet Nam has shown the potential to become a hub of ASEAN electronics manufacturing.

Among the progress seen, is the 78 per-cent growth per year in exports over the past four years, valued at US$35 billion in 2014.

Duangdej Yuaikwarmdee, deputy managing director of Thailand's Reed Tradex Co, delivered this statement at the opening ceremony of Nepcon Viet Nam 2015 in Ha Noi on September 17. The three-day event exhibits machinery, equipment, support industry and technologies for electronics manufacturing.

"As we move toward a single market in the ASEAN Economic Community in the near future, co-operation across boundaries and sectors is increasingly important," he said, hoping that Nepcon Viet Nam, organized by Reed Tradex, would connect technology providers with the electronics manufacturing industry, while driving Viet Nam's industrial development forward.

Nepcon Viet Nam 2015, one of the global Nepcon events, attracted over 100 leading manufacturers of machinery, tools and equipment from 10 countries, including mainland China, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan. A conference discussing development of Viet Nam's electrical and electronic industries, as well as those of other ASEAN countries, will also be held on the sideline of the expo.

Ronnie Wong, chief operating officer of the Association of Electronic Industries in Singapore (AEIS), said Viet Nam's support industries are steadily growing with electrical and electronics being one of the prominent industries to be promoted by the Government.

By presenting international machinery and solutions from suppliers, he said, the association hopes to become a part that supports the growth of electrical and electronics manufacturing industries in the country, as well as promoting industrial co-operation between Viet Nam and Singapore. — VNS
