Viet Nam shares buck Asian trend


Despite losses on other Asian markets, shares closed up across both floors in Viet Nam. The HNX Index rose 0.68 per cent to 65.14 points and the VN Index gained 6.36 points to reach 521.45.

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Despite losses on other Asian markets, shares closed up across both floors in Viet Nam. The HNX Index rose 0.68 per cent to 65.14 points and the VN Index gained 6.36 points to reach 521.45.

Meanwhile, Singapore shares ended lower on Thursday with the Straits Times Index slipping 31.46 points to 3,336.01. Some 4.25 billion shares, valued at S$2.29 billion were traded. Losers outnumbered gainers 321 to 142.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.27 percent to end at 2,317.75. The Shenzhen Component Index dipped 25.21 points to 9,379.19.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei plunged 5.15 per cent to 13,589.03 points, while the broader Topix index was down 3.9 percent to 1,133.16 points on Thursday afternoon. — The Straits Times/China Daily/ANN/VNS
