HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese students made a historic sweep at the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–25 global finals, taking home all three top prizes and setting a new national record after three years of participation.

Held at Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China, the finals welcomed 179 teams from 48 countries and territories. Việt Nam’s delegation, comprising nine students across three teams, earned first prize in the Cloud Track, second in the Computing Track, and third in the Network Track — a breakthrough result that affirmed Vietnamese students’ rising global competitiveness in ICT.

The competition featured an intense eight-hour practical challenge where teams tackled real-world ICT scenarios, using Huawei Cloud platforms, simulation tools and advanced computing systems.

“This was a valuable opportunity to explore new technologies, connect with peers globally and gain practical experience that bridges classroom learning with industry needs,” said Đinh Hoàng Anh, a student at the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology.

Nguyễn Lê Hồng Khanh from Hanoi University of Science and Technology said: “Huawei ICT Competition is a turning point in my academic journey. It helped me apply theoretical knowledge in practical ways, improve teamwork and prepare for my career in tech.”

Speaking at the awards ceremony, the Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer of Huawei ICT Infrastructure, Ritchie Peng, said: “Our vision is to build a fully connected, intelligent world. Through the ICT Competition, we want to empower young talent with the skills to shape that future. The outstanding performance of the Vietnamese teams reflects the strength of their education and their readiness to lead in tomorrow’s digital economy.”

“We continue to evolve this competition to align with the most pressing challenges of the digital age — from AI and cloud to green innovation. The practical section of the contest mirrors real-world demands and gives students the tools to make a meaningful impact," he added.

Launched in 2015, the Huawei ICT Competition has attracted nearly one million students from more than 2,000 universities in over 100 countries. The 2024–25 edition also marked the 10th anniversary of the contest, featuring global forums on AI in education, innovation, and digital talent development.
