In a preliminary conclusion, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced its will partially terminate its anti-subsidy investigations into steel nails imported from Viet Nam, according to report by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT).

The DOC has explained that the plaintiff, Mid Continent Steel & Wire, Inc, has withdrawn its request for administrative reviews of eight among 11 Vietnamese companies exporting nails.

Furthermore, no other relevant party has submitted any review request of the eight companies, so the DOC will stop the probe.

In addition, it has been determined that one of the remaining three companies has not exported any of its products to the US during the period under review, so the DOC will also stop administrative reviews of company.

For the remaining two companies, the subsidy margin has been preliminarily fixed at 313.97 per cent for the review period (November 3, 2014 to December 31, 2015).

As scheduled, the DOC will promulgate its final conclusion regarding the administrative review 120 days from the announcement of the preliminary conclusion.

The final conclusion will function as a foundation for the DOC and the US’s customs and border protection agencies to assess anti-subsidy duties and deposits to be imposed on batches of steel nails imported from Viet Nam.

Earlier, on June 6, 2017, the DOC announced its plan to partially terminate its administrative review of steel nails imported from Viet Nam for 21 product codes. — VNS
