HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Tuan Chau cruise ship terminal in the northern province of Quang Ninh has been recognised as the nation's biggest artificial marina by the Vietnam Record Organisation (VRO).

A ceremony was held on August 4 in Ha Long city to mark the recognition given by VRO.

Covering an area of more than 1.7 million square metres, the Tuan Chau cruise ship terminal can accommodate more than 2,000 ships.

With favourable natural conditions and located close to the Ha Long Bay, which is a World Natural Heritage site, the marina is an ideal destination for both domestic and foreign tourists.

The project investor, the Tuan Chau Group, said that it has so far put VND2.5 trillion, or US$119 million, in the marina, which would welcome ships by the end of October this year.

The Tuan Chau terminal, expected to earn more than VND10 trillion ($476.19 million) in revenue per year and create jobs for about 10,000 people, will connect with ship and yacht firms in the region and the world.

The group and VRO also plan to seek Asian and world records for the marina, which will help promote the Ha Long Bay's brand globally.

In the near future , the group will propose some more records for Viet Nam, including the longest man-made beach and the largest stage with fountains and music, which would be able to accommodate 12,000 persons. — VNS
