Tokyo investors enjoy higher end on Monday


Shares end much higher in Tokyo, also higher for Hongkong and Singapore while they mixed for local investors in Viet Nam and lower for China on the first working day.

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The markets in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore all finished on a high after the week's first working day, while the outlook was less positive for investors in Viet Nam and China.

In Ha Noi, the HNX Index rose 0.02 points to 65.6 and in HCM City the VN Index lost 3.41 points to 524.56.

In China, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 29.86 points to end at 2,210.90. Investors in Hong Kong, however, enjoyed an increase on the Hang Seng Index of 33.83 points, taking it up to 21,609.09.

Singaporean shares also closed higher with the Straits Times Index climbing 15.79 points to 3,200.51.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 636.67 points to reach 13,514.20 and the Topix index added 55.02 points up to 1,111.97. — VNS
