Nguyễn Văn Thi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hóa Provincial People's Committee, underscored the strategic significance of the two major projects in advancing Việt Nam's chemical and garment industries.

THANH HOÁ — The central province of Thanh Hoá marked the commencement of two large-scale projects at the Nghi Sơn Economic Zone on Monday, signalling a significant step in the region's industrial development.
The first project, the Đức Giang Nghi Sơn Chemical Complex, began construction on its initial phase, spanning 30ha in Tân Trường Commune, Nghi Sơn Town. With an investment of VNĐ2.4 trillion (nearly US$94 million), the first phase of the complex is scheduled to become operational by the first quarter of 2026.
The chemical complex will be developed in three phases, with a total capital investment of VNĐ12 trillion. Once completed, it is expected to be the largest facility of its kind in Việt Nam, boasting an annual production capacity of 151,000 tonnes of chemicals.

Billion Union Việt Nam will also be constructing a 32ha fabric factory, with a total investment of $70 million.
Once operational, the Singapore-invested factory will supply 18,000 tonnes of fabric annually to domestic and international markets.
Speaking at the event, Nguyễn Văn Thi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hóa Provincial People's Committee, underscored the strategic significance of the two major projects in advancing Việt Nam's chemical and garment industries.
He called on the management board of the Nghi Sơn Economic Zone and Industrial Parks to strengthen cooperation with investors and contractors to promptly resolve any arising challenges.
The vice chairman also urged investors and construction contractors to prioritise project progress, quality, labour safety and environmental sanitation to ensure timely completion and long-term success. — VNS
