NEW YORK (Biz Hub) — The northern province of Thai Nguyen introduced its strengths and potential to US enterprises at a seminar held by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New York late last week.

The permanent vice chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Nhu Van Tam, said at the event that Thai Nguyen's advantages include minerals and tea.

The province is currently home to over 5,000 businesses, including more than 100 foreign-funded enterprises. It has six industrial zones and 32 industrial clusters and is seeking Government approval to build a 500ha information technology zone.

Thai Nguyen wants to become an industrial province, attracting investment in several key fields and supporting industry projects related to mineral processing, hi-tech agricultural production and waste treatment.

Russell Statman, Executive Director of the Registrar Corporation, said the biggest challenge for Vietnamese enterprises, including those from Thai Nguyen, is understanding and applying US import-export regulations.— VNS
