Computer viruses caused estimated losses of VNĐ20.9 trillion (US$902 million) to Vietnamese users last year, much higher than the VND14.9 trillion reported in 2018, reported Bkav Technology Group.
Vietnamese users suffered a record VND14.9 trillion (US$637.6 million) in damage from computer viruses this year, an increase of 21 per cent over last year.
Viet Nam’s leading internet security firm, Bach Khoa Internetwork Security Centre (BKAV), announced that Vietnamese users lost some VND12.3 trillion (US$540 million) in 2017 due to viruses.
Recent statistics released by the Bkav Technology Group Viet Nam reveal that up to 15 million computers in the country were infected with viruses in the third quarter of this year.
Computer viruses caused losses of VND10.4 trillion (US$470 million) in 2016, surpassing the VND8.7 trillion the year before, according to the latest report from the BKAV Technology Group.

Spyware had been targeting Vietnamese state agency websites for the
past year, but the country did not have the cybersecurity experts to
cope with the attacks.
