The domestic property market reported more sales in January compared to December, according to the Ministry of Construction’s Housing and Property Market Management Department.
Viet Nam should raise policies to encourage the development of
affordable rental housing in an effort to resolve the severe shortage of
housing for low-income earners, experts said.
The construction ministry has proposed to the government to consider
the pilot use of official development assistance (ODA) in social housing
projects.
The new regulation making it mandatory for property developers to make
deposits is hurting both enterprises and home-buyers, as it is expected
to be eventually absorbed into the selling price.
The construction ministry will focus on housing development this year,
especially social housing projects, said Minister Trinh Dinh Dung at a
meeting yesterday.
Executive committees and residents of serviced apartment buildings are
desperate to collect sinking (or maintenance) funds from investors, who
are stalling on the issue.
The Government will control ceiling prices for social and low-income
housing projects to prevent investors from selling these apartments at
high prices, said Trinh Dinh Dung, construction minister.
Ha Noi''s apartment market is gaining traction because of lower prices,
but sales in faraway suburbs are still tepid due to the depressed
socio-geographic features of these areas.
