Viet Nam is expected to continue importing petroleum products for the next five years as production of major oil refineries is unable to meet the increasing local demand.
Viet Nam spent US$927 million on importing 1.66 million tonnes of petroleum products over the past two months, surging 2 per cent in volume against the same period last year.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade on Sunday imposed minimum petrol
import quotas for two new wholesale distributors, to ensure sufficient
supply for the year.
