Handicrafts are identified as one of the product groups with great export potential and high profit margin that Viet Nam needs to boost to be key export industry in the coming years.
Viet Nam has been urged to improve the quality and designs of handicraft
products with unique cultural footprints to boost their exports, given
their high demand in the world market.
The Viet Nam Handicraft Exporters Association (Vietcraft) has launched a
Sustainable Product Design Competition to encourage designers,
artisans, companies and research institutes to develop designs that
encourage the sustainability and diversity of the country''s handicrafts.
Domestic handicraft exporters would gain 30-50 per cent turnover if they
made efficient investments in design and enhancing creativity for
meeting the demands and tastes of foreign markets, stated local experts.
