As the Lunar New Year (Tết) holiday is approaching, the Vietnamese aviation market has experienced intense pressure with airfares soaring and seat availability becoming increasingly scarce.
Domestic airfares have been cooling down, with the prices on many routes even halving as compared with those during the National Reunification (April 30) and May Day holidays.
The move was ordered by the Transport Ministry in response to concerns that have impacted the public’s travel plans, especially during peak periods such as the recent five-day national holiday.
The lifting of the ceiling on airfares would certainly help airlines better meet the needs of passengers, especially during the peak period because airlines could offset the cost of two-way flights.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has proposed removal of the cap for airfares on domestic flight routes operated by at least three carriers.
Increasing ceiling rates for airfares would bring more chances for the local aviation firms to have flexible and suitable price policies on the domestic aviation market.
The super-cheap airfares are available from noon to 2pm at www.vietjetair.com for flights departing from April 23 to December 31 (excluding national holidays).
"The promotional tickets to fly from the north and central region to the south are up for grabs during the whole golden week until next Thursday at www.vietjetair.com and Vietjet Air mobile app," the budget airline said in a statement.
As part of its promotion campaign ‘Love connection – Fly for love’, the budget airline is offering discounted airfares from noon to 2pm for all domestic routes.
Vietjet is offering two million super-promotional airfares with a price starting from zero dong from Wednesday to Friday in a move to welcome the exciting traveling season, the airline announced on Tuesday.
