The association and its members urged the government to review the tax, which they say has placed additional burden on the already struggling industry.
In the first eight months of the year, cement companies exported more than 23.5 million tonnes of cement and clinker, an increase of 13.7 per cent year-on-year.
While exports were identified as a solution for the cement industry to
deal with oversupply at home, there remains stiff competition from large
producers, such as China, Thailand and Indonesia.
Viet Nam''s cement production has met domestic demand since 2010 but has
surpassed it since 2012 because of declining consumption resulting from
economic recession.
