Securities companies participating in the new covered warrant market may find it less attractive to trade covered warrants of large-cap State-owned companies due to their low free-floating ratios.
The State will divest its capital in the Sai Gon Beer, Alcohol and Beverage Corporation (Sabeco) and the Ha Noi Beer Alcohol and Beverage Joint Stock Corporation (Habeco) through open tenders.
The State offloaded 147.7 million shares worth VND2 trillion (US$89.7
million) in State-owned companies in 16 initial public offering (IPO)
auctions during the first quarter of this year.
Many State-owned companies with a charter capital of more than VND1
trillion (US$44.4 million) failed to elicit investors'' interest with
their recent initial public offering (IPO). Analysts attributed it
primarily to their unproductive operation, as well as poor preparation
for the IPO.
The Government and the State Securities Commission (SSC) would have to
improve the policies that had been preventing State-owned companies from
being privatised, said officials and experts yesterday.
As the Government boosts the privatisation, or disinvestment, efforts of
state-owned enterprises, several companies will launch initial public
offerings (IPOs) and list their shares on the stock exchanges in 2014.
