E-Mart Co., South Korea''s largest discount chain, has signed a
memorandum of understanding with HCM City to invest US$200 million in
the city, according to a report.
Mergers and acquisitions are churning the Vietnamese retail market,
with large domestic players buying out rivals and massive investment by
foreign retailers.
Local retailers do not require preferential treatment, only a level
playing field, they told a seminar on retail market development
organised by the Viet Nam Retailers Association in Ha Noi on Friday.
In July 2011 E-Mart, South Korea''s top discount
store chain, signed an agreement with Viet Nam''s U&I Investment
Corporation to form a distribution joint venture in the country.
