Vietnamese telecommunications businesses have prevented more than 92,000 subscription from spreading spam calls, and more than 35 million fake calls in the first six months.
With tightened management over pre-activated SIM cards, the number of mobile phone subscriptions was 125.8 million last year, a year-on-year decrease of 3.5 per cent.
Giant mobile phone retailer The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World) Joint-Stock Company on Wednesday announced its partnership with military telecommunication firm Viettel to explore more 4G subscriptions nationwide.
The Ministry of Information and Communications said that it has fined Viettel, VinaPhone and MobiFone VND$85 million (US$3,728) for using fake identity cards to register pre-paid phone subscriptions.
