Authorities of this Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province had a working
session last Friday with visiting Israeli businesses seeking
partnerships in fish farming and processing.
The northern province of Quang Ninh reported gross aquatic output of
51,500 tonnes in the first seven months of this year, up 2.1 per cent
compared to the same period last year and representing about 59 per cent
of the annual target.
The first three fish farms raising tra fish for export in the Mekong
Delta province of Vinh Long have received certificates from the
Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), opening the door to larger
markets.
The area under tra fish farming should be reduced to prevent any further
oversupply, which has already dragged down prices in the last few
years, heard a seminar held in Can Tho on Wednesday.
