Statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs showed that wood chip exports brought home US$1.1 billion in the first seven months of this year while wood pellets earned $380 million.
According to wood industry enterprises, the demand for importing wood pellets as fuel for this winter is increasing rapidly in EU countries, Japan, and South Korea.
Viet Nam’s wood pellet exports saw rapid increases in recent years and were expected to become one of the agro-forestry products which touched a revenue of $1 billion or higher.
Exports of some new products such as charcoal and wood pellets have witnessed high demand in niche markets, opening opportunities for Vietnamese companies.
