Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan on Tuesday
signed a licence allowing Gtel Mobile Joint Stock Company (Gtel Mobile)
to provide 4G telecommunications service in Viet Nam.
Three major mobile service providers will run technical tests in
December, six months later than planned, for operating switching
networks without consumers needing to change phone numbers.
Viet Nam''s small mobile carriers have sought a postponement of the
implementation of a policy allowing mobile phone users to change network
providers without having to change their phone numbers.
Viet Nam''s oldest mobile network operator, MobiFone, will recall nearly
200,000 SIM cards that were issued and allocated to dealers, but were
not activated for the past two years.
