Starting from June 1, Viet Nam could export only verified legal timber products to the European markets as the VPA/FLECT would officially enter into force.
The signing of the Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade Voluntary Partnership Agreement (FLEGT-VPA) between Viet Nam and the European Union is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy and environment.
Viet Nam and the EU last week reached important agreements during their
fifth round of negotiations on the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA)
on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade.
Final negotiations to complete a Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and
Trade (FLEGT) and Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) between the
European Union (EU) and Viet Nam is expected to be completed by late
2015.
