Three mobile service providers, Viettel, MobiFone, and VinaPhone, have
been cleared of suspicions that they violated regulations on tariff
increases with their 3G fee hike.
Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai has ordered the ministries of Finance, and
Industry and Trade to monitor telecom fees by three giant providers, in
compliance with the Competition Law.
The Ministry of Information and Communications held a press conference
on Friday to explain its recent proposal to allow an increase in 3G
mobile internet fees by telecom companies Viettel, MobiFone and
VinaPhone.
While other giant telecom companies have raised 3G rates, Vietnamobile
will not, according to Pham Ngoc Lang, chairman of Ha Noi Telecom
Corporation''s management board.
Telecom providers increased 3G fees in order to reinvest in their mobile
networks, said VinaPhone deputy director Ho Duc Thang at an online
discussion organised by Infonet online newspaper on Thursday.
Mobile network providers are awaiting a decision from the Ministry of
Information and Communications on when to raise fees for their 3G
internet connection service.
