HCM CITY (Biz Hub)— The second hi-tech agriculture and food processing fair (Hi-Tech Agro) opened on Wednesday in Le Van Tam Park in HCM City's District 1, attracting 200 companies from the south.

The fair includes 300 booths displaying equipment, new flower varieties and ornamental fish and trees.

Also showcased are edible and medicinal mushroom-production models, hydroponic vegetables, post-harvest technologies and semi-processed and processed products.

Seminars on the hi-tech agricultural industry and food safety are also being held, said Pho Nam Phuong, director of the HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thi Hong, deputy chairwoman of the HCM City People's Committee, said the event would create conditions for the agricultural sector in the south to exchange information and access the latest technological advances in the industry.

It also aims to promote Vietnamese brands and help attract more investment in the agriculture and food-processing industry, as well as seek a stable outlet for farm produce, she said.

Organised by ITPC in collaboration with other departments, the fair will end on December 15. – VNS
