The company was also planning to construct a research and development centre in Viet Nam in the future to improve the country's IT applications, Chief Executive Officer Joe Kaeser said at a press meeting on October 16.
Kaeser said Siemens saw Viet Nam as a market with a lot of potential and business opportunities, as more than 90 million people in the country needed better quality of energy, mobility and infrastructure.
"Siemens will bring state-of-the-art solutions and technologies in these areas to Viet Nam, as well as offer vocational education and training to the local people that will benefit the society, the people and the company at the same time," he said.
The R&D centre would take advantage of the huge potential that Siemens saw in Viet Nam, as the country had a very young population, he said.
The Siemens' CEO also said the company would continue its support to and improve its co-operation with leading technical and engineering universities in Viet Nam.
He said Siemens would join the first German Job Fair as one of its major sponsors. This event will take place in Ho Chi Minh City next Saturday and will be inaugurated by German Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
