HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares finished higher on both national stock exchanges this morning, welcoming this year with gains following increased earnings on Tuesday's last trading day of 2013.
The VN-Index on the HCM City Exchange advanced 0.3 per cent to 506.13 points. With 33.3 million shares traded, the total value reached VND440.54 billion (US$20.97 million).
Meanwhile, the VN30-Index, tracking the southern city's top shares by capitalisation and liquidity, rose by 0.17 per cent to 563.17 points.
Also, gainers overwhelmed losers 14-5.
On the Ha Noi Exchange, the HNX-Index edged up 0.32 per cent to 68.05 points, while the HNXFF-Index, which was composed of stocks with a minimum free-float rate of 5 per cent, increased 0.3 per cent to 68.12 points.
On the trading of 22.5 million shares, total value reached VND168.8 billion ($8 million).
The HNX30-Index jumped 0.24 per cent to 127.45 points.— VNS
