The benchmark VN Index on HCM Stock Exchange rose by 0.47 per cent to close the morning session at 966.69 points. It had fallenby 2.55 per cent on Tuesday.
The HNX Index on Ha Noi Stock Exchange was up by 1.02 per cent at 111.70 points. The northern index had slipped by 2.18 per cent in the previous session.
Nearly 101 million shares, worth VND2.3 trillion (US$103 million), were traded in the two markets during the morning trade session.
The market breadth was positive as gaining stocks outnumbered declining ones by 243 to 142, while 372 other stocks remained unchanged.
Eighteen of the 20 sectors on the stock market gained, with key industries seeing an increase in share prices, including banking-finance, energy, construction material and retail, according to data on vietstock.vn.
The top performers among the gainers were PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (GAS), Vincom Retail (VRE), budget carrier Vietjet (VJC), Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), steel producer Hoa Phat Group (HPG), Coteccons Construction JSC (CTD), Hoa Binh Construction Group (HBC), Phu Nhuan Jewellery JSC (PNJ) and Mobile World Investment Corporation (MWG).
