Shares concluded Tuesday morning in opposite directions on the two stock exchanges after three consecutive raising sessions.

The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange rose by 1.07 per cent to close the morning session at 1,024.60 points.

Meanwhile, the HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange was down by 0.19 per cent at 118.09 points.

A total of 151 million shares, worth VND3.9 trillion (US$172 million), were traded in the two markets during the morning trading session.

Twenty stocks in the VN30 basket, which tracks the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity on the HCM Stock Exchange, gained value while only eight slipped.

Steelmaker Hoa Sen Group (HSG), VNDirect Securities Corporation (VND) and PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (GAS) were the top performers among the gainers, hitting the daily increase limit of 7 per cent.

Other heavyweight shares, such as those of Vinamilk (VNM) and budget carrier Vietjet (VJC), gained 3.1 per cent and 1.3 per cent, respectively.

On the HNX, the decline of Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) contributed to the slump of the northern index.
