Shares gain on both bourses


Shares advanced on the HCM City Stock Exchange, with the benchmark VN-Index adding 0.8 per cent to 499.67 points.

HA NOI — Shares advanced on the HCM City Stock Exchange, with the benchmark VN-Index adding 0.8 per cent to 499.67 points.

The VN30, tracking the bourse's top 30 shares by capitalisation and liquidity, also gained 0.7 per cent to 557.81 points.

Blue chips experienced mix trades with Military Bank (MBB) and Vinh Son-Song Hinh Hydropower (VSH) falling slightly; Eximbank (EIB), Kinh Do Confectionery (KDC) and Vinamilk (VNM) closing unchanged; while logistic firm Gemadept (GMD) and property developer Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG) led with the highest gains.

Total trading value in HCM City reached VND527.6 billion (US$24.8 million) over a volume of 40.4 million shares.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index closed at 60.99 points, a 0.4 per cent rise from yesterday's session, with around 14.1 million shares changing hands at a value of nearly VND104.4 billion ($4.9 million).

The HNX30, the northern bourse's 30 largest stocks, also increased 1.1 per cent to 113.76 points. — VNS
