Shares gain in morning trading


After surprising losses late yesterday afternoon trading, shares rebound this morning on both national stock exchanges.

HA NOI (VNS) — After surprising losses in trading late yesterday afternoon, shares rebounded this morning on both the national stock exchanges.

The VN-Index on the HCM City Exchange advanced 0.91 per cent to reach 558.93 points.

More than 77 million shares changed hands with a total value of VND1.3 trillion (US$61.9 million).

The VN30-Index, tracking the southern city's top shares by capitalisation and liquidity, increased 0.62 per cent to reach 631.27 points.

Two-thirds of them ended with higher values this morning, including Bao Viet (BVH), FPT Group (HPT), Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), Hoa Phat Group (HPG), Hoa Sen Group (HSG), Vietcombank (VCB) and Sacombank (STB).

Only two codes lost this morning.

On the Ha Noi Exchange, the VN-Index rose by 0.52 per cent to reach 75.95 points, while the HNX gained 0.39 per cent to end at 75.29 points.

The HXN30-Index closed this morning at 148.84 points, 0.3 per cent higher.

With more than 40 million shares traded, the total value reached VND371 billion ($17.6 million). —VNS
